Commissioners Sought for Municipal Consolidation Study for Roxbury/Mount Arlington Study

Ten Volunteers Needed from Both Towns

Roxbury & Mount Arlington – October 1, 2014

Two non-partisan petition groups, who have secured state approval for a municipal consolidation study for both towns, are seeking commissioners to volunteer their time to serve on a study commission.

Eight members of the 10-member commission and two alternate commissioners will be appointed by the two petition groups.  Civic-minded residents from both communities are sought in this effort who can analyze information objectively and without political bias. The remaining commission members will be selected through the representatives of the municipal governments of Roxbury Township and Borough of Mount Arlington.

“The purpose of this municipal consolidation commission is to implement a fair and balanced assessment about the pros and cons of consolidating the government structure of the two towns,” said Gene Paradiso, a petitioner in Mount Arlington.  The ultimate findings may show the towns are better together, or better apart.  There are no pre-conceived notions as we approach this.”

Those interested in serving on the study commission should send a cover letter explaining their interest, ability to satisfy a time commitment of at least one meeting a month for up to 3 years and a resume to: Roxbury Mount Arlington Study, PO Box 78, Landing NJ 07850.
